International Students

If you are an international student you must check in with the University of Washington’s Office of International Students and Scholars (ISS) before registering for classes. This office will provide the majority of your immigration and cross-cultural advising during your time at the Evans School.

You can also access information online about different things you will need to know about getting to and living in Seattle.

Getting To Seattle

• Sea-Tac International Airport: A list of all airlines that fly into the Seattle metro area with phone numbers and a map of the airport
• Washington State Ferries: Information about the Puget Sound ferry system, including routes between the United States and Canada

Getting Around Seattle

• Visiting Seattle 101: Provides electronic maps of the Seattle metro area and information on consulate and visas services, where to get Internet access, banking and money, and plugs and outlet standards
• Metro Online Home Page: All the information you will need on buses, carpools, bicycle routes, and disability transit services in the Seattle metro area

Visiting and Living in Seattle

• Seattle.gov Non-English Language Information: A list of foreign languages and fonts available for viewing the City of Seattle – Homepage
• Access Washington – Visiting and Recreation: Information about recreational opportunities in Washington State such as outdoor activities, museums, and local festivals
• Seattle’s Convention and Visitors Bureau: A great resource for information on where to eat, visit, and relax in Seattle

Working in Seattle and the United States

• International student have restrictions on the types of work they can do according to their visas. To find out any restrictions on your visa, talk with your sponsoring organization and the University of Washington's Office of International Students and Scholars (ISS).
